LOKPAL

I know I am weak in expressing my views in writing but the current events going on made me to express my view in writing. Recently Kisan Baburao Hazare popularly known as Anna Hazare started stir against government to pass a bill called LOKPAL BILL. The primary objective of this bill is to constitute a governing body or better we can say a law enforcement body whose job is to keep tab on corruption.

In constitution there is provision to deal with all short of crimes including corruption but it becomes toothless over period of the time. It requires revision, not a new department Or Law. Constituting a new department will increase the expenditure of government which eventually will come down to common people in the form of tax.

One of the most interesting point of lokpal bill is constitution of governing body who will supervise the working and recruitment of lokpals. The civil society draft of lokpal bill states that the governing body must include retired judge, retired senior IAS/IPS officers and designated persons from society but it doesn’t provide any measure to establish the authenticity of people. Also the constitution doesn’t permit for government - public partnership for constituting, Law governing or Law enforcement body because there is no measure or guide line to establish the authenticity of representative of public if they are not elected member or not nominated by government.

I am not against the agitation or any measure taken to stop the corruption but all means must be constitutional.
